Kyra Nkezabera, who has Rwandan roots, is among the contestants for the Miss Belgium title. She is confident about her chances of winning, saying she meets all the requirements, and she’s calling on Rwandans to support her.
Born in Brussels in 2003 to a Rwandan father and a Belgian mother, Kyra grew up in the Belgian capital.
She says she holds Rwanda close to her heart even though she has never lived there because she feels deeply connected to her father’s homeland and takes pride in the country’s remarkable progress in development and other sectors.
Kyra is currently competing in the Miss Belgium pageant. She has already passed the first stage of the competition after being selected among the winners representing the Brussels region. She is now in the semi-finals.
When she was chosen in Brussels, Kyra also won the “Miss Popularity” title (the contestant most loved by the public) and became the first runner-up in the regional round.
In this semi-final stage, voting is ongoing on the Miss Belgium website. The voting platform is open to everyone worldwide, and Kyra is encouraging Rwandans everywhere to support her by voting online.
In a short interview with RADIOTV10, Kyra expressed her optimism and determination to go far in the competition and possibly win the crown.
She said: “I have met all the requirements, and I truly feel this is my calling. I joined the competition with confidence, and with God’s help, I believe I can make it.”
A family member of Kyra also described her as a determined and hardworking person since childhood.
They said: “She grew up with great determination. Whenever she starts something, she always wants to finish it successfully. We were so proud and surprised when we heard she had made it through the first stage and ranked among the top contestants.”
Kyra is not the first person of Rwandan origin to participate in a European beauty pageant. In fact, Sonia Rolland Uwitonze, who also has Rwandan roots, competed in Miss France 2000 and won the crown.
Those who wish to support and vote for Kyra Nkezabera can do so through the Miss Belgium website.
