President Paul Kagame has congratulated his counterpart, Mamadi Doumbouya, on winning the presidential elections in Guinea, assuring him that Rwanda will continue to work closely with Guinea to strengthen and develop bilateral relations.
The message was delivered by the Rwandan Head of State on the afternoon of Monday, January 5, 2026, a few days after Mamadi Doumbouya won the presidential elections in Guinea.
President Kagame stated: “Congratulations to my brother, President Mamadi Doumbouya, on his election as President of the Republic of Guinea. We look forward to deepening our strong bilateral relations and working together to advance our shared priorities and the prosperity of our nations.”
The Rwandan President assured his Guinean counterpart that Rwanda is ready to continue strengthening the existing good relations between the two countries and to enhance cooperation aimed at promoting the economic development of both nations.
President Kagame and President Mamadi Doumbouya share a close relationship, with each leader having made official visits to the other’s country as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and their personal friendship.
In early May 2025, President Mamadi Doumbouya and his wife, Lauriane Doumbouya, paid an official visit to Rwanda, where they were hosted by President Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame at their residence in Kibugabuga, Bugesera District.
In May 2024, President Kagame was also received by President Mamadi Doumbouya in Guinea, who often refers to him as a brother and close friend.
In August 2024, when President Kagame was sworn in for another term after winning the presidential elections, President Mamadi Doumbouya was among the distinguished guests who joined him and the Rwandan people during the inauguration ceremony.
