The Prime Minister, Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva, has arrived in Bangui in the Central African Republic, where he will attend the inauguration ceremony of Faustin-Archange Touadéra, who was re-elected as President.
Dr. Nsengiyumva arrived in Bangui on the morning of Monday, March 30, 2026, according to a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister.
The Office of the Prime Minister stated that, “This morning in Bangui, Central African Republic, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva arrived to represent H.E. President Paul Kagame at the inauguration ceremony of President Faustin-Archange Touadéra.”
Faustin-Archange Touadéra is set to be sworn in as President of the Central African Republic after winning the presidential election three months ago with 76.15% of the vote, defeating seven other candidates who competed in the election.
Touadéra, who has now won a third term, first came to power in 2016. He was allowed to run again following a constitutional amendment in 2023.
The Central African Republic is a long-standing partner of Rwanda, with strong cooperation especially in the area of security. Rwanda has deployed troops and police there as part of peacekeeping missions since 2014.
Since then, relations between Rwanda and the Central African Republic have continued to strengthen, largely due to the significant role played by Rwandan forces in restoring peace in the country.
Faustin-Archange Touadéra, who has been re-elected as President, visited Rwanda in November 2025 for a two-day official working visit.
