The Minister of Health, Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana, has said that whenever an Ebola outbreak emerges in countries neighboring Rwanda, the country puts in place measures to prevent it from entering, and that this is exactly what is being done now, assuring anyone planning to visit Rwanda that they will come and return home without encountering this disease.
This comes 30 days after an Ebola outbreak was declared in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and which continues to be reported in that neighboring country as well as in Uganda, which also borders Rwanda.
The Government of Rwanda has once again reassured citizens that although this outbreak has appeared in neighboring countries, it has not reached Rwanda.
In a statement released this past Tuesday, the Government said: “Health authorities in Rwanda continue to closely monitor the situation and strengthen prevention measures. As of now, there are no Ebola cases in Rwanda or in border areas.”
The Government added: “Although the risk of this outbreak reaching Rwanda is low, we remain vigilant and continue to strengthen early detection efforts wherever the outbreak may emerge.”
The Minister of Health, Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana, says that as Rwanda continues to strengthen its measures to prevent Ebola from entering the country, those planning to visit are encouraged to do so with full confidence that they will not encounter this disease.
He said: “This is exactly what we are doing at this time. If you come to Rwanda today, we assure you 100 percent that you will be safe, there is no Ebola here, and everything is in place for you to enjoy your time here and return home safely.”
He also said that foreign nationals who already run business operations in Rwanda are likewise assured that they will not encounter Ebola, as measures have been put in place to prevent it, as well as response plans should the disease ever be detected, to prevent its spread.
