President Paul Kagame attended the UEFA Super Cup match between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa, both Visit Rwanda partner clubs, in Salzburg on Wednesday night.
The match brought together UEFA Champions League winners PSG of France and UEFA Europa League winners Aston Villa of England.
The Office of the President said: “This evening in Salzburg, President Kagame attended the 2026 UEFA Super Cup, bringing together two Visit Rwanda partners: Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning UEFA Champions League winners, and Aston Villa, the UEFA Europa League winners and Visit Rwanda’s newest football partner.”
The match came shortly after Rwanda entered into its partnership with Aston Villa, its most recent club to promote Visit Rwanda, with the agreement formally signed on 14 July 2026.
The Aston Villa partnership followed the end of Rwanda’s agreement with Arsenal earlier this summer, with both sides agreeing not to renew the deal after eight years.
Paris Saint-Germain, meanwhile, has promoted Visit Rwanda for five years, since the two sides entered into their partnership in 2019.
