Rwanda’s Ministry of Infrastructure has called for closer coordination among architects and stronger professional standards to improve the quality and sustainability of the country’s built environment.
Minister of State Col Claudien Bizimungu made the call during discussions with members of the Rwanda Institute of Architects (RIA) on challenges affecting the profession and practical measures needed to address them.
The ministry and architects also exchanged views on the profession’s future and how practitioners can contribute more effectively to Rwanda’s continuing infrastructure transformation.
Bizimungu urged architects to work more closely together and improve coordination across the profession. He also emphasised the importance of upholding high standards while supporting the delivery of sustainable, high-quality infrastructure.
The engagement forms part of broader efforts to promote professional excellence and strengthen the contribution of practitioners to the development of Rwanda’s infrastructure and built environment.
MININFRA said continued cooperation between the government and professionals would be important in addressing challenges within the sector and advancing Rwanda’s wider development and transformation agenda.
