Rwanda’s RSSB Tigers secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 FIBA Intercontinental Cup after finishing second in Group A following Rytas Vilnius’ 107-66 victory over Shanghai Sharks.
The result left Rytas Vilnius top of the group while RSSB Tigers advanced in second place with one win and one defeat.
The Rwandan side opened the tournament with a 107-89 loss to Rytas Vilnius before bouncing back with a 117-115 overtime victory over Shanghai Sharks.
RSSB Tigers had trailed Shanghai by as many as 19 points before fighting their way back into the game and completing the comeback in overtime.
That victory kept their hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive before Rytas Vilnius confirmed their qualification by beating Shanghai Sharks in the final Group A match.
RSSB Tigers will face the team that finishes first in Group B in Saturday’s semi-final. Argentina’s Boca Juniors and NBA G League United of the United States were competing for the top position in the group.
The Tigers are competing in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup for the first time after winning the 2026 Basketball Africa League title.
They earned their place in the global tournament after defeating Petro de Luanda 90-88 in the BAL final.
The competition is being held in Beijing and brings together leading clubs from different regions. The top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals.
