RDB Cleared Confusion Over Kigali Heights Operations and Former Owner’s Liquidation

RDB Cleared Confusion Over Kigali Heights Operations and Former Owner’s Liquidation

The Rwanda Development Board clarified that Kigali Heights remained open and continued operating normally, following confusion over reports concerning the liquidation of the company that previously owned the complex.

In a public notice issued by the Office of the Registrar General, RDB said the liquidation involved Kigali Heights Development Company Ltd, the former owner of the property, and did not affect the Kigali Heights complex itself.

The building is currently owned by YYUSSA Company Ltd, which acquired it from Kigali Heights Development Company Ltd in 2024 and remains its sole legal owner.

Kigali Heights continues to operate normally, with tenants, businesses, visitors and event organisers able to carry out their activities without interruption.

The notice also clarified that there is no enforcement, foreclosure or insolvency process involving either the building or its current owner.

Kigali Heights Development Company Ltd entered voluntary liquidation after its shareholders decided to close the company for business reasons and appointed a liquidator to oversee the process.

RDB stressed that the liquidation did not mean the company was insolvent, adding that there were no known financial difficulties, unpaid debts or creditor claims against the company.

The board urged the public to distinguish between Kigali Heights Development Company Ltd, which is being wound up by its shareholders, and the Kigali Heights complex, which remains under the ownership of YYUSSA Company Ltd and continues operating normally.
