You Can See Everything, Clayface, Wildwood and Street Fighter are among the films drawing cinema audiences heading into this weekend, while newcomer Godzilla Minus Zero is forecast to take first place at the North American box office.
Box Office Mojo’s latest completed weekend chart covers October 30, November 1 in the United States and Canada. With November 6-8 ticket sales still being counted, those results show which films have attracted audiences as the new releases arrive.
1.You Can See Everything
A documentary about Elizabeth Holmes took first place last weekend, ahead of horror films and animated adventures.
You Can See Everything earned $11.45 million, bringing its North American total to $64.73 million after three weekends.
Directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, the film begins 34 days before Holmes is sent to prison, when she invites a crew to document her life.
What starts with that invitation becomes a three-year project following the former Silicon Valley founder.
For viewers interested in real people and business stories, it offers a different choice from the fictional characters dominating much of the cinema lineup.
2.Godzilla Minus Zero
Godzilla Minus Zero opened in North American cinemas on November 6, following its Japanese release three days earlier. Takashi Yamazaki returns as writer, director and visual-effects supervisor after Godzilla Minus One.
The sequel brings back characters from the previous film and adds King Ghidorah to the confrontation. Its predecessor earned about $57 million in North America, giving the new production an established audience to build on.
Boxoffice Pro forecasts an opening weekend of $25 million to $35 million, which would put it in contention for first place. These are projected earnings, not confirmed ticket sales.
3.Clayface
Clayface approaches the world of DC comics through horror. Tom Rhys Harries plays Matt Hagen, with director James Watkins focusing on the suffering and physical transformation behind the Gotham villain.
The film explores the human character behind the monster, making his disturbing bodily changes central to the story.
It finished second last weekend with $11 million, less than $450,000 behind You Can See Everything. Its North American total reached $44.67 million after two weekends.
4.Wildwood
In Wildwood, a girl enters a hidden forest to rescue her younger brother after crows abduct him. Prue McKeel’s search takes her beyond familiar surroundings and into a strange world outside Portland.
The animated adventure comes from LAIKA, the studio behind Coraline. Travis Knight directs the adaptation of Colin Meloy’s novel, illustrated by Carson Ellis.
Wildwood placed third last weekend with $9.02 million, bringing its North American earnings to $27.43 million after two weekends.
5.Street Fighter
The fighting-game adaptation brings Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li to cinemas in a story set in 1993.
Chun-Li recruits estranged fighters Ryu and Ken for the World Warrior Tournament. Behind the competition lies a conspiracy that forces them to confront each other and their shared past.
Andrew Koji plays Ryu, Noah Centineo plays Ken and Callina Liang appears as Chun-Li. Director Kitao Sakurai’s cast also includes Jason Momoa as Blanka, Roman Reigns as Akuma and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog.
Street Fighter completed its third weekend with $53.47 million in North American ticket sales, including $3.66 million earned that weekend, when it ranked fifth.
