The head of Munoga Primary School in Ngamba Sector, Kamonyi District, Nsengimana, is accused of selling 150kgs of students’ food. He claims the sale was to help pay off a school debt, though local authorities dispute this.
Ngamba Executive Secretary, Epimaque Munyakazi, confirmed the recovery of 100kgs from 150 kgs of the food that was sold, stating: “The school head made a mistake by selling students’ food under the pretense of a debt he claims to owe people.”
Sources say Nsengimana was summoned by sector authorities to explain his actions but “refused to appear and chose to flee instead.”
Munyakazi added: “We are preparing a report to submit to the district for further questions.”
Reports from the school reveal that Nsengimana hasn’t returned since the incident was exposed. Some suggest the food was bought by a woman related to him, though he insists the sale aimed to repay a loan take post-COVID 19.
Before selling the food, he reportedly drafted a sales agreement with no legal basis, as the school allegedly owed nothing to the buyer.
A source familiar with the case said: “We informed the sector authorities who told us they recovered the food, but the school head has already escaped.”
Colleagues criticized his actions, noting that as educator and school leader, he should have been a role model rather than engaging in such misconduct.
