Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Olivier Nduhungirehe, is in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on a working visit, where he was received by his counterpart, Amb. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Tanzania’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation.
The talks, held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, focused on strengthening relations and cooperation between the two countries and ways to expand it.
In a post shared on social media, it was said: “The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral ties between two countries.”
Rwanda and Tanzania are countries that regularly cooperate, particularly in trade, with 70% of goods entering Rwanda passing through Tanzania, alongside goods exported from Rwanda for sale in that country, and many others that transit through it en route to other destinations.
In May 2026, President Paul Kagame visited Tanzania, where he held talks with President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
During that visit, the two leaders discussed matters related to further strengthening relations between Rwanda and Tanzania, as well as deepening cooperation in sectors of mutual benefit to both countries.
In July 2025, the two countries signed a cooperation agreement aimed at developing the agricultural sector and launching the operations of the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) office in Kigali, aimed at boosting trade between the two countries.
They also cooperate in promoting border-based collaboration, as the armed forces of both countries regularly come together for activities aimed at promoting peace and security.
