Rwanda took part in Café Show China 2026, one of China’s largest platforms dedicated to specialty coffee, using the event to promote Rwandan coffee brands to Chinese businesses and consumers and to reinforce the country’s growing footprint in the Chinese market.
The exhibition, held at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing, brought together coffee-producing nations, leading industry players and coffee enthusiasts from around the world.
According to the Rwanda Embassy in China, a variety of premium Rwandan coffee brands were displayed, promoted and sold to Chinese businesses and consumers during the event, further strengthening the visibility and presence of Rwandan coffee in the Chinese market.
The embassy said China remains one of Rwanda’s key export markets, noting that Rwandan coffee exports to the country have more than doubled over the past two years.
The participation comes as Rwanda’s coffee sector continues to expand its reach in China on the back of preferential trade terms. Beijing granted 100 percent tariff-free access to products from Rwanda and other least-developed countries in December 2024, a move that has improved market access for Rwandan coffee, tea, chili, gemstones and mineral exports.
Trade data from the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda shows that China has climbed rapidly among Rwanda’s export destinations this year, with coffee forming part of a broader export basket that also includes tin, tungsten and niobium ores. The National Agricultural Export Development Board confirms that Rwanda’s coffee sector posted record performance in 2025, exporting 23,860 tonnes of green coffee for $148.6 million in revenue, driven by rising global prices and growing demand in new markets, including China.
Café Show China draws thousands of exhibitors and tens of thousands of visitors annually, and has become an established platform for coffee-producing countries seeking to expand their presence among Chinese consumers, whose appetite for specialty coffee has been growing steadily in recent years.
