Four Rwandans have graduated from the Military and Air Force Academies of the National Defense University of Türkiye and were commissioned as second lieutenants by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The graduates are Byiringiro Arnauld, Cyizere Prince, Mbanzabugabo Daniel and Mugabe Robert.
They completed their studies during a graduation ceremony held in Ankara on Sunday, August 30, according to the Embassy of Rwanda in Türkiye.
“They were commissioned with the rank of 2 Lt by the President of the Republic of Turkiye, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan,” the embassy said.
Rwanda’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Lt Gen (Rtd) Charles Kayonga, and the country’s Defence Attaché, Col JP Rulisa, attended the graduation ceremony.
Rwanda and Türkiye cooperate in several sectors, including defence, military education and knowledge exchange.
The graduation comes days after Erdoğan held a telephone conversation with President Paul Kagame in which the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and regional developments.
During the conversation, Erdoğan reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Rwanda in several areas, particularly the defence industry.
