President Paul Kagame will begin a two-day official visit to the Sultanate of Oman on Monday, September 7, as Rwanda and Oman seek to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
The visit, scheduled for September 7 and 8, was announced by Oman’s Diwan of Royal Court on Saturday.
Discussions will cover matters of common interest and ways to advance relations in areas that support the interests and aspirations of both countries.
The announcement did not specify the individual subjects to be discussed or agreements expected during the visit.
Rwanda and Oman established diplomatic relations in 1982 and have recently increased engagements aimed at expanding political, economic and investment cooperation.
In January 2026, Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, led a government delegation to Oman for talks with senior officials.
The delegation included officials responsible for finance, information and communication technology, infrastructure and investment promotion.
During the visit, the two countries signed four agreements and cooperation programmes covering logistics, dry ports, supply chains, data centres, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, aviation and airport management.
The agreements included plans to strengthen air connectivity between Kigali and Muscat and a memorandum of understanding between the Rwanda Development Board and Oman Airports on airport development, management and investment opportunities.
President Kagame’s visit is expected to build on those engagements and further develop cooperation between the two countries.
