Rwanda is delighted to welcome three Arsenal Women Football Club Players Katie McCabe, Caitlin Foord and Laia Codina who landed this morning, July 8, 2025. They came to Rwanda after an unforgettable season with Arsenal WFC.
They are in Rwanda for a four-day visit to Akagera Park (July 8-11) aimed at promoting Rwanda as a tourist destination and local football development.
The trio touched down in Rwanda, Kigali, today being welcomed to visit Rwanda. This Visit Rwanda partnership was launched in 2018, whereas, it is sponsored by Arsenal, men’s and women’s teams are contributing to Rwanda’s tourism, with an 8% increase in tourist arrivals since inception.
Arsenal’s women’s football development team has conducted coaching clinics and refresher courses for Rwandan coaches, most recently in April 2024 focusing on grassroots football. This partnership with Arsenal has contributed to 13% of Rwanda’s GDP.
The arrival of the Arsenal women players this morning, just a day after the arrival of international football stars Jay-Jay Okocha and Didier Domi who also landed in Kigali to support the Visit Rwanda Campaign highlights Rwanda’s strategic use of sports as a tool for global engagement and national branding as well as its promotion of tourism.
