Hanga Pitchfest 2025: Rwanda’s Biggest Tech Event Returns to Spotlight Young Innovators
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Rwanda is once again opening the stage for young innovators and startups to shine as Hanga Pitchfest 2025 draws closer. The country’s biggest tech and innovation festival is set to bring together creative minds, investors, and policymakers to celebrate solutions made by Rwandans, for Africa.

Organized by the Ministry of ICT and Innovation (MINICT) in partnership with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and UNDP Rwanda, Hanga Pitchfest aims to find and support the most promising tech-driven startups that can solve real challenges in society from health and finance to agriculture and climate change.

Building Rwanda’s Next Generation of Entrepreneurs

Since its launch in 2021, Hanga Pitchfest has become a symbol of Rwanda’s fast-growing innovation ecosystem. Every year, hundreds of young entrepreneurs apply with ideas that use technology to improve people’s lives. Out of these, only the best 25 startups are selected for a training and mentorship program known as the Hanga Bootcamp.

This bootcamp helps founders polish their business models, improve their pitching skills, and prepare for investors. After weeks of intense training, the Top 10 finalists are chosen to compete on stage at the grand finale, an event that has previously taken place at the BK Arena with a live audience and national media coverage.

What Makes Hanga Pitchfest Special

Unlike many competitions, Hanga Pitchfest is not just about winning cash prizes — it’s about exposure, networking, and growth. Finalists get a chance to meet potential investors, partners, and government officials who can help them expand their projects.

According to MINICT, the goal is to “create a generation of job creators, not job seekers.” The initiative is part of Rwanda’s broader vision to become a knowledge-based economy, where technology and innovation drive national development.

Past winners of Hanga Pitchfest have gone on to grow their startups locally and regionally. For example, “Aflak Solutions”, which won in a previous edition, has expanded its tech solutions to help small businesses digitize their operations, while others have gained partnerships with major organizations through the exposure gained at the event.

Momentum Builds for the 2025 Edition

Applications for the 2025 edition attracted dozens of new startups tackling issues in agriculture, clean energy, fintech, health tech, and climate innovation. The top 25 cohort has already gone through the bootcamp sessions, and the final showdown is expected to take place in late November 2025, according to updates from the Hanga Pitchfest official pages and MINICT.

On social media, Hanga Pitchfest’s accounts on X (Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram have been posting behind-the-scenes photos and updates about the finalists’ progress. The excitement is growing as the date for the final pitching event approaches.

UNDP Rwanda, one of the key partners, recently praised the initiative for “empowering young innovators to design solutions that create jobs and tackle national challenges,” showing how public-private partnerships are strengthening the country’s startup ecosystem.

A Platform That Inspires the Continent

Beyond the competition, Hanga Pitchfest has become a symbol of possibility for African youth. It proves that with the right mentorship, access, and government support, local ideas can become continental success stories. The event also attracts investors and tech enthusiasts from across the region, making it one of East Africa’s most anticipated startup gatherings.

As Rwanda continues to position itself as Africa’s innovation hub, Hanga Pitchfest stands out as a powerful example of what happens when ambition meets opportunity. The 2025 edition promises not just new winners but new dreams, new technologies, and new hope for young Rwandan entrepreneurs ready to make their mark.
