Former Permanent Secretary in Rwanda’s Ministry of Sports, Candy Basomingera has joined AI Skills and Compute Africa Foundation (AISCA) as Director of Stakeholder Engagement and Development, where she will lead regional stakeholder initiatives and support the rollout of AISCA Houses and Studios.
AISCA announced Basomingera as one of two new members joining its team as the organisation expands its work in stakeholder engagement, artificial intelligence, machine learning, research and technology.
Basomingera brought experience in government, international relations and business development. She previously served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports and as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda Convention Bureau.
She has also worked in Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Office of the Government Spokesperson.
In her new role, she will work on stakeholder engagement across the region and support partnerships aimed at helping African talent access opportunities, skills, infrastructure and other resources.
AISCA says it is expanding its team as it continues building infrastructure, strengthening the AI ecosystem and creating more opportunities for African talent to contribute to the continent’s technological development.
