A total of 209 Rwanda National Police officers have completed specialized training in VIP protection, urban combat operations, riot control, and public order management.
The training officially concluded on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in a pass-out ceremony presided over by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, DIGP Vincent Sano.
The six-week training was conducted at the Counter Terrorism Training Centre (CTTC) in Mayange, Bugesera District, organized in partnership between the Rwanda National Police and Qatar’s Lekhwiya security service, and involved 209 participants from various units of the Rwanda National Police, strengthening their competencies in close protection operations and public order management.
Rwanda National Police said the officers who completed this training “increased their knowledge and capacity in security protection operations and in addressing various challenges affecting public order.”
The officers who completed this training demonstrated some of the skills they gained, including riot control techniques and how they carry out operations aimed at neutralizing threats.
This training equips participants with advanced knowledge and skills in key areas of security.
These programs play a significant role in strengthening security cooperation between the two countries, Rwanda and Qatar, and in building the capacity of Rwandan police officers in their operations.
The knowledge provided through this training is also aimed at improving preparedness and effective operations in resolving various security challenges and safeguarding public order.
This program reflects the commitment of both parties to capacity building, advancing professional knowledge, sharing expertise, and supporting capacity-building efforts in the security sector.
