President Paul Kagame has extended his condolences to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan following the death of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan.
In a message shared on social media, President Kagame conveyed his sympathy to President Samia, her family and the people of Tanzania.
“My sincere condolences to my sister, President Samia, her family, and the people of Tanzania on the passing of H.E. Hafidh Ameir Hassan,” Kagame said.
He added that the Government and people of Rwanda stood in solidarity with President Samia and Tanzanians as they honoured Hassan’s life and legacy.
Hassan’s death was announced by Tanzania’s Vice President, Deogratius Ndejembi, on the morning of Monday, September 7, 2026.
Ndejembi said Hassan died at about 8:00 a.m. at Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Zanzibar, where he had been receiving treatment for a heart condition.
