World Vision Rwanda Golf Tournament Raises Hope for 8,000 Children Through School Feeding Initiative

KIGALI, Rwanda, World Vision Rwanda has reaffirmed its commitment to improving child nutrition and school feeding through the Friends of World Vision Rwanda Golf Tournament, which brought together golfers, partners, sponsors, leaders and friends for a Gala Dinner on Saturday evening under the theme “Driving Hope.”

The event marked the culmination of a fundraising initiative aimed at turning the generosity of supporters on and off the golf course into tangible support for children across Rwanda.

Addressing guests during the Gala Dinner, World Vision Rwanda National Director Pauline Okumu highlighted the concrete impact that contributions mobilised through the tournament are expected to make.

“So, what will your support through this tournament make possible?”

Okumu explained that the funds raised will contribute to the establishment and equipping of a centralised school feeding kitchen in Burera District, as part of World Vision Rwanda’s Integrated School Feeding Model.

The facility is expected to serve approximately eight schools and benefit an estimated 8,000 children, providing them with nutritious school meals and supporting their wellbeing and ability to learn.

The initiative reflects World Vision Rwanda’s broader focus on addressing child nutrition through sustainable school feeding solutions, while bringing partners and communities together around a shared commitment to children’s wellbeing.

Beyond the fundraising itself, the Gala Dinner served as a celebration of partnership and collective action. Golfers, sponsors, partners and friends who supported the tournament were recognised for contributing to an initiative designed to create lasting benefits for children.

The organisation described the gathering as a reminder of what can be achieved when people come together with a common purpose.

From the golf course to the Gala Dinner, the Friends of World Vision Rwanda Golf Tournament brought together a community united by a shared commitment to improving the lives of children.

For World Vision Rwanda, the success of the initiative goes beyond the tournament. Each contribution represents a step towards ensuring that more children have access to nutritious meals at school and the opportunity to grow, learn and thrive.

With the planned kitchen in Burera set to reach thousands of children across eight schools, the tournament has demonstrated how sport, philanthropy and partnership can come together to create meaningful change.

Through the spirit of “Driving Hope,” what began on the golf course is now helping drive a practical solution to child nutrition, one meal, one school and one child at a time.
