These two heads of state, although from two different continents, behave similarly so that one can think they are twins.
They are both determined to win every discussion. Their mindset is characterized by:
– Ego-Driven: They see every conversation as a battle rather than an exchange of ideas. “Losing” is not an option. They tend to embark their own population into collective myopia.
– Close-Minded: They reject new information that contradicts their beliefs, even if it’s backed by facts. Instead of using reasoning, they rely on emotions, personal bias, or even aggression to dominate conversations. Zelensky to an ARD journalist this week: “I will never accept the US-Russia agreement…” How is it possible when one knows that his biggest financial supporter is the US?
– They only listen to parts of a discussion that supports their stance while ignoring or misrepresenting counterpoints. They pick fights even when there’s no real disagreement, just to assert dominance in the conversation. Acting and exercising power are two different concepts. We believe that Zelensky could have negotiated a peace agreement long ago. But he preferred to be misled by foreigners to Ukraine problems. Same with the DRC president: fighting is the only option even when he can’t fight. If he had struck a deal with the M23 a few years ago, there wouldn’t be any fights in Kivu now.
– Repetitive and Circular Thinking: They often repeat the same griefs with no basis. For instance, Tshisekedi repeatedly spread fake news about Rwanda plundering DRC minerals while he knows that his family members and associates from UAE, Belgium, China and South Africa are the biggest exporters of minerals from DRC.
– Both are always on the defensive. If they feel they are losing, they shift the topic, attack the opponent personally, or create unrelated distractions. Insulting opponents is their favorite game. They might gaslight others, twist words, or use logical fallacies just to “win” instead of seeking truth.
– Critical minerals deals: both countries are rich. Surprisingly, both presidents use it as a bargaining element to save their power. Zelensky tried in vain to make a deal with the USA a few days ago. Tshisekedi did the same with South Africa President.
The title of this article sounds like a joke but we have to confess that it’s a disturbing reality. This exercise was carried out by our team of journalists, based on serious media facts and personal observations. We leave it to our audience to make up their own mind and conclusion if any.
