Two football icons with global recognition, Jay-Jay Okocha and Didier Domi, have arrived in Rwanda as part of a five-day tour under the Visit Rwanda campaign, a promotional initiative run in partnership with French football giant Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)
The duo touched down in Kigali on Sunday, July 6, with Okocha arriving late in the evening and Domi earlier in the day. Their visit, which runs until July 11, marks the continuation of a collaboration that began in 2019, recently renewed in April 2025, now extended through 2028. This partnership aims to position Rwanda as a top-tier destination for tourism, investment, and youth development.
Speaking upon arrival, the Nigerian football legend Okocha, who previously visited Rwanda during the 20234 FIFA Congress, said:
“We’re here to showcase the partnership between PSG and Rwanda through Visit Rwanda, and of course, to show what a beautiful country Rwanda is.”
Both Okocha and Domi left an unerasable mark on PSG. Okocha, known for his magical footwork and infectious charisma, played a pivotal role at PSG between 1998 and 2002. His style and flair not only thrilled fans but also inspired teammates including the legendary Ronaldinho.
On the other hand, Didier Domi, a product of PSG’s youth academy, helped lead the club through one of its most successful eras, contributing to key victories such as the 1995 Coupe de la Ligue and the 1996 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.
During their stay, they will tour iconic sites including the Volcanoes National Park, home to the world-famous mountain gorillas. Their journey is part of Rwanda’s larger mission to blend sports diplomacy with tourism marketing, as seen with previous visits from PSG stars such as Pedro Miguel Pauleta, Sergio Ramos, Keylor Navas, and Julian Draxler.
As Rwanda continues to grow as a destination that merges football excellence with natural beauty, the presence of these legends sends a bold message: Rwanda is not just on the map, it’s becoming a must-see for the world.
