Students from Trinity International Academy, located in Nyarutarama, Kigali, had the unique opportunity to visit the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Combat Training Centre in Gabiro, Gatsibo District, Eastern Province, as part of an educational field trip aimed at strengthening their understanding of national service and security.
Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by Major General Denis Rutaha, the Commandant of CTC Gabiro, along with his team. The students received an insightful briefing on the values and ethics upheld by the RDF and learned about the vital role such training centers play in promoting national security and resilience.
Accompanied by school leadership, the students engaged in a guided tour of the facility. They were treated to dynamic and impressive demonstrations, including martial arts displays, obstacle course maneuvers, and heliborne operation exercises all showcasing the RDF’s readiness and professionalism.
In his address to the students, Maj Gen Rutaha emphasized the foundational principles that guide RDF personnel: integrity, patriotism, discipline, and unity. He called upon the students to see themselves as future guardians of Rwanda’s stability and peace, and encouraged them to carry forward the spirit of service and responsibility.
Queen Liliane, Managing Director of Trinity International Academy, expressed sincere appreciation to the RDF for hosting the students and granting them a glimpse into the life of those who serve the country. She applauded the RDF’s commitment to excellence and the educational value the visit provided.
She also reminded the students that discipline is key to any form of success. “While academic performance is important,” she noted, “it must go hand-in-hand with character and discipline because without them, excellence cannot be sustained.”
The visit not only inspired admiration for the RDF but also left the students with lasting lessons on leadership, responsibility, and national pride.
