The DRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed on Thursday that Minister Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner had summoned the Ugandan Ambassador to Kinshasa over recent diplomatic concerns.
“On Thursday, July 17,2025, The minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, international cooperation and Francophonie, Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, summoned Mr. Alhajji Farid M. Kaliisa, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda in Kinshasa.
This summons follows recent developments deemed concerning by the Congolese authorities,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release.
On this occasion, the Minister of State clearly expressed the position of the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo, reeaffirming Kinshasa’s commitment to the respect of its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the source added.
The summons comes one week after Ugandan authorities reopened the Bunagana and Ishasha border posts located in the area controlled by AFC/M23.
Ugandan troops are present in the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri to pursue ADF jihadists.
