The Secretariat General of the FPR-Inkotanyi party has approved the establishment of a new advisory body composed of senior and experienced members to provide guidance to party members.
The creation of this new body is part of the resolutions adopted during the 17th National Congress of the FPR-Inkotanyi, which was held on December 19, 2025, at the party’s headquarters in Rusororo, Gasabo District.
A statement outlining the resolutions of the Congress was released on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, recalling key agenda items discussed during the meeting, including the opening address delivered by His Excellency Paul Kagame, Chairman of the FPR-Inkotanyi and President of the Republic of Rwanda.
During the Congress, members also approved a draft amendment of the party’s statutes. Various discussions were held on key issues, including strengthening the country’s foundations and Rwanda’s position on the international stage.
The FPR-Inkotanyi Secretariat General further noted that during the Congress, the Chairman emphasized that “senior members of society must conduct themselves responsibly in order to serve as role models for the youth. He stressed that leaders at all levels must always reflect on their responsibility to improve the well-being of citizens by delivering timely and effective services.”
Participants at the FPR-Inkotanyi National Congress also committed to reviewing and improving the structure, functioning, and coordination of party organs so that they may operate more efficiently and in line with current realities.
Among the resolutions adopted, the Secretariat General confirmed that participants approved the establishment of a Council of Elders within the FPR-Inkotanyi.
The Congress also approved amendments to articles of the party’s statutes governing the structure of the National Executive Committee, introducing the positions of a Second Vice President and a Deputy Secretary General. The amendments further define the mandate, structure, and operations of the newly established Council of Elders.
It was also recalled that during the Congress, Hon. Uwimana Consolée was elected First Vice President, Hon. Kayisire Marie Solange was elected Second Vice President, Amb. Bazivamo Christophe was elected Secretary General, while Gasana Karasanyi Stephen was elected Deputy Secretary General.
