Showering is something most of us do every day without thinking much about it. It feels simple water, soap, rinse, done. But are we really cleaning our bodies the right way? And how many times should a person bathe in a day or week?
There are a few areas that people often forget while showering, but they are important for hygiene. Armpits need to be washed carefully because sweat mixes with bacteria and causes body odor. Behind the ears is another small area that traps sweat and oil, so it should be cleaned gently. Feet, especially between the toes, can get sweaty and develop odor or fungal infections if not washed and dried properly. The belly button also collects dirt and dead skin, so a gentle clean is necessary. Private areas are sensitive and need daily washing with mild soap to prevent irritation.
How often someone should bathe depends on lifestyle, climate, and activity level. In hot climates like Rwanda, many people bathe once or twice a day, especially if they sweat a lot. People who exercise or do physical work usually need daily showers. For those who spend most of their time indoors and do not sweat much, bathing once a day is generally enough. Bathing too frequently with strong soap can dry out the skin, so if you shower twice a day, it’s better to use mild soap and moisturize afterward.
Showering is not just about smelling good. It is about keeping your body healthy and preventing infections. Paying attention to often-forgotten areas and bathing the right amount can make a big difference in overall hygiene.
