KIGALI, Rwanda, June 10, 2026 Hundreds of students, young professionals, financial sector leaders, and policymakers gathered at the Kigali Convention Centre on Wednesday for the Capital Markets Youth Forum 2026, an event aimed at promoting financial literacy, investment culture, and youth participation in Rwanda’s capital markets.
Organized under the theme of empowering young people to take an active role in shaping Rwanda’s financial future, the forum provided participants with insights into investment opportunities, wealth creation, savings culture, and long-term financial planning.
Opening the forum, the Chief Executive Officer of the Capital Market Authority (CMA) Rwanda, Romeo Ngarambe, emphasized the importance of capital markets in personal and national development.
“The capital market is not reserved for institutions alone. It serves as a powerful instrument for personal development, business growth, and national progress,” Ngarambe said.
Throughout the event, speakers encouraged young people to start investing early and develop a culture of financial discipline.
The Head of Sales and Marketing at RNIT Ltd, Ruziga Emmanuel Masantura, challenged participants to stop postponing their financial goals.
“I assure you that if you think you can start tomorrow, you are mistaken, start today!” he told attendees.
Similarly, the Chief Executive Officer of RNIT Fund, Gatera S. Jonathan, urged young people to prepare for the future while they still have time and energy to build wealth.
“People start developing health problems when it’s time to retire. We don’t want you to be like that,” he said, highlighting the importance of long-term investment planning and retirement preparedness.
One of the most memorable moments of the day came during the University Challenge competition, where finalists demonstrated their knowledge of capital markets and investment principles.
The competition winner, Christian Ishimwe Senga, delivered a statement that resonated strongly with the audience.
“Investing is not what you do when you become rich; it’s what you do to become rich,” he said.
