Different leaders within the AFC/M23 coalition say that bombs that were fired in the city of Goma by the opposing side using drones killed several people, describing the attack as a serious act that should no longer be tolerated.
The explosions occurred in the city of Goma, in North Kivu Province in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, early this Wednesday morning, March 11, 2026.
Leaders from the AFC/M23 coalition, which opposes the government of the DRC, condemned what they say are continued violations of the ceasefire agreement by the opposing side.
The political spokesperson of the coalition, Lawrence Kanyuka, said that “Provisional assessment of the terrorist attack carried out by the Kinshasa regime, using a combat drone against the city of Goma: 3 deaths, including one member of the foreign humanitarian staff of an International NGO.”
Manzi Willy, the Deputy Governor of North Kivu under the administration installed by AFC/M23, also stated in a message this Wednesday morning that drones launched bombs in the city of Goma. He said that “this escalation carried out by the Kinshasa government” should make it responsible for the consequences.
Manzi Willy added that “This level of recklessness on the part of Kinshasa can’t continue to have such immunity.”
He also stated that the international community should stop showing double standards in this conflict, accusing it of siding with the Congolese government, saying that “The level of hypocrisy from international community, where Tshisekedi can continue to pound the population while the other side is told to observe a cease-fire?”
The Deputy Coordinator of AFC/M23, Bertrand Bisimwa, also said this morning that the city of Goma is being targeted by drone attacks launched by the Kinshasa government.
Bisimwa stated that these repeated violations of the ceasefire by the opposing side could give the coalition the authority to fully withdraw from the ceasefire, since they claim they have tolerated the situation for a long time.
