The Ministry of Education has announced that results of the National Examinations for students who completed secondary school in the 2024–2025 academic year will be released before the end of this month. This is the first time such results are being published early, and it will allow students who wish to immediately proceed to higher learning institutions and universities to start at the same time as others, without having to wait for an entire year as it used to be.
This was announced by the Minister of Education, Dr. Joseph Nsengimana, after the publication on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, of the results for Primary Six leavers and students who completed Ordinary Level (O’ Level).
These results were released three weeks before the 2025–2026 academic year begins, which will also make it easier for students moving to the next levels of education to start at the same time as their peers.
Dr. Nsengimana stated that after releasing the results of primary school leavers and O’ Level students, the next step is to publish the results of those who completed secondary school.
He said: “A’ Level results will come out by the end of this August.”
He explained that this is the first time these results are being released earlier than usual, which will benefit students who want to proceed to higher learning institutions without waiting an entire year.
He said: “They usually didn’t get results in August, the results would come out in October or November, but what we did was to make sure students do their exams, we mark them so that they would get results earlier and proceed with other studies instead of waiting for a whole year.”
The Minister of Education added that in the next two weeks, the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) will be finalizing the results for secondary school graduates, so they can be announced by the end of this month.
This comes after results for the 2023–2024 secondary school leavers were released in December 2025, three months after universities and higher learning institutions had already begun classes in September.
