The First lady of Rwanda and Chairperson of the Unity Club Intwararumuri, Mrs. Jeannette Kagame, has urged Rwandans to continue upholding the unwavering principle of “Ubunyarwanda” (Rwandan-ness), reminding them that the “Ndi Umunyarwanda” initiative has served as a balm for the wounds left by the country’s tragic past.
The message from the First Lady was shared on Monday, November 3, 2025 as the Unity Club Intwararumuri prepares for its 18th Annual Forum.
In her message, Mrs. Jeannette Kagame said: “In our journey to rebuild Rwanda, Ndi Umunyarwanda became the balm that soothed the wounds we were left with from our painful history. It has become the foundation on which a nation free from division is built, one that upholds the values and moral principles of Rwandan culture.”
Mrs. Kagame went on to remind Rwandans that as long as they remain united through the bond of “Ubunyarwanda,” they will always stand firm in all aspects of life, enabling them to prosper and live harmoniously with others.
She added: “Whoever wears the identity of Rwandanness carries resilience in every challenge. Let us continue to promote and strengthen this unshakable principle of Rwandanness, and most importantly, pass it on to the younger generation.”
During the 17th Unity Club Intwararumuri Forum held last year, on November 16, 2024, discussions centered on issues that threaten Rwanda’s unity, with the aim of finding lasting solutions to eliminate them.
