MTN Rwandacell Plc (MTN Rwanda) is proud to announce the official launch of its 5G network, across different locations including Gasabo, Nyarugenge, Kicukiro, and Kamonyi Districts.
With the initial deployment at the Kigali Convention Centre–Kigali Heights–KABC area in May, this launch marks a significant milestone in Rwanda’s digital transformation journey. The launch of 5G in Rwanda is set to accelerate progress across key sectors of the economy. In education, it will support remote learning and digital classrooms with faster, more stable connections, helping bridge the gap for students in rural areas. In healthcare, 5G will enable quicker access to health care services such as real-time patient monitoring, improving service delivery even in hard-to-reach communities. The business sectors will benefit from smart technologies that boost productivity and efficiency, while in sports and entertainment, fans can expect enhanced live streaming and immersive digital experiences. The rollout will also strengthen digital financial services more reliable; moreover, it will enable real-time analytics, smart devices integration, and broader access in underserved areas, bringing Rwanda closer to a connected, digital future.

The 5G network will be accessible to users with compatible devices, including iPhone 14 and above, as well as selected models from Transsion brands such as TECNO and Infinix. MTN Rwanda is currently in the process of closing certification with Samsung, with Google Pixel certification to follow.
