The Governments of Rwanda and Israel have committed to strengthening their existing partnership, signing new cooperation agreements in the fields of education, innovation, development and capacity building.
This was among the highlights of the official visit by Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Olivier Nduhungirehe to Israel.
Minister Nduhungirehe began his visit with a tour of the Old City of Jerusalem, experiencing the heart of Israel’s history, heritage and faith, before being received on Monday, July 6, 2026, by his counterpart, Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gideon Sa’ar.
According to Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, “Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe held productive discussions with His Excellency Gideon Sa’ar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries and exchanging views on regional and global issues.”
The Ministry also announced that the two top diplomats signed new cooperation agreements, including those in the areas of education and development.
During the same visit, Minister Nduhungirehe visited Yad Vashem, Israel’s World Holocaust Remembrance Center, where he met with Chairman Danny Dayan.
The Ministry said Minister Nduhungirehe “laid a wreath in memory of the victims of the Holocaust and held productive discussions with Chairman Danny Dayan.”
Building on Chairman Dayan’s recent visit to Kigali for the 32nd Kwibuka commemoration, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in remembrance, education, research, and genocide prevention.
The visit also reflected the shared commitment of Israel and Rwanda to preserving the memory of both the Holocaust and the Genocide against the Tutsi, educating future generations, and ensuring that the lessons of history continue to inspire resilience and humanity.
Minister Nduhungirehe, together with his Israeli counterpart, also joined the wider Rwandan community living in Israel including members of the diplomatic corps and friends of Rwanda to celebrate Rwanda’s 32nd Liberation Day. The celebrations featured various activities highlighting Rwanda’s remarkable journey of rebuilding and the impressive progress made in its cooperation and partnership with Israel.
