The Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Jean-Guy K. Africa today hosted a high-level courtesy visit from the British High Commissioner to Rwanda represented by Andrew Thorpe, and Robert Hale, the Head of Green Growth & Trade at the UK Government.
The meeting, held at the RDB headquarters in Kigali, aimed to explore and strengthen areas of cooperation between Rwanda and the United Kingdom, particularly in trade, climate finance, and inclusive development.
According to RDB, the discussions focused on accelerating bilateral efforts to support Rwanda’s green growth ambitions, improving market access for Rwandan products, and expanding partnerships that promote sustainable economic development for all.
“The United Kingdom is one of Rwanda’s key development partners,” said RDB CEO Jean- Guy K. Africa “This visit reinforces our shared commitment to unlocking investment opportunities that drive inclusive growth and climate resilience.”
Robert Hale, who leads the UK’s Green Growth and Trade initiatives, commended Rwanda for its ambitious climate targets and called the country a model for sustainable development in Africa.
Rwanda and the UK have a longstanding partnership built on mutual respect and shared goals, particularly under frameworks such as the UK-Rwanda Investment and Growth Acceleration Programme (IGAP), which supports green infrastructure, renewable energy, and innovation.
This visit comes at a time when global partnerships are crucial in tackling climate change, enhancing trade cooperation, and ensuring that no one is left behind in economic development.
The two sides pledged to continue working closely to develop actionable strategies that will benefit both nations and contribute to global climate solutions.
