President Paul Kagame has received the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, who has begun a two-day working visit to Rwanda.
The ceremony took place this Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Kigali International Airport, where President Kagame welcomed the Emir, who arrived leading a high-level delegation of senior officials from Qatar.
During the reception held at Kanombe International Airport, the Emir of Qatar was received with full honors, including the traditional guard of honor reserved for visiting dignitaries.
After greeting each other, President Kagame officially welcomed Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and introduced him to several senior Rwandan government officials who had gathered to receive him.
It is expected that President Kagame and the Emir of Qatar will hold discussions aimed at strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Rwanda and Qatar enjoy strong relations rooted in cooperation across various sectors, including economic development, security, and other strategic areas.
President Kagame recently visited Qatar earlier this month, where he attended the World Summit for Social Development.
During his visit to Qatar, he was also warmly received by Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, with whom he shares a strong friendship and a mutual long-term vision for the development of their nations.
The Emir of Qatar has previously visited Rwanda on several occasions, such as in April 2019 during a three-day official visit that further strengthened bilateral relations.
He also returned to Rwanda in 2022 to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), where he praised President Kagame as a close friend and a visionary leader.
