The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Hon. Gertrude Kazarwa, expressed her joy after visiting Akagera National Park, where she experienced its natural beauty, including wild animals.
She shared her excitement in a message posted on the social media platform X, showing herself in Akagera National Park, which is located in Kayonza District, Eastern Province.
In the message that accompanied the photos she shared from the park and the animals she encountered, Hon. Gertrude Kazarwa said: “Delighted to spend time at Akagera National Park.”
She continued, saying: “So much beauty in our wildlife and landscapes. Grateful to the dedicated team preserving this unique heritage for generations to come”
Among the photos shared by the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies were those showing the animals she saw, including rhinos and antelopes.
Akagera National Park, established in 1934, covers an area of 1,122 square kilometers and is home to some of the most tourist-attracting animals such as lions, rhinos, leopards, buffaloes, and elephants.
The number of visitors to this park continues to increase every year. In 2024, they reached 56,219 visitors, up from 54,141 in 2023, an increase of 3.83%.
Similarly, the revenue generated by this national park also increased, as in 2024 it brought Rwanda $4.7 million, compared to $4.6 million in 2023.
