Senior government officials have confirmed that President Paul Kagame is in good health, following a wave of false claims circulating on social media suggesting otherwise.
The misinformation, widely spread online, alleged that the Head of State was seriously ill or had passed away. Officials have dismissed these rumors as baseless and politically motivated.
Speaking to Taarifa, Government Spokesperson Yolande Makolo urged the public not to fall for what she described as “recurring hater fake news.”
“There is nothing to worry about. President Kagame is simply taking a routine break after a demanding schedule of both local and international engagements,” Makolo said.
She emphasized that it is completely normal for the President to take time out of the public spotlight.
“He is a human being and takes time to rest, like anyone else,” said a close family member who also confirmed that the President remains actively in charge of state affairs.
Similar rumors have emerged in the past during periods of low public visibility, only to be proven false once the President resumed official duties.
Authorities are calling on the public to rely on trusted and official communication channels, and to avoid spreading unverified or misleading content.
