Before boarding his flight after completing his duties as the French Ambassador to Rwanda, Antoine Anfré said he wished to declare that the four years he spent in Rwanda were fantastic, as they were marked by strengthening the friendship between both countries.
This was part of the message he shared at Kigali International Airport as he was about to board a flight back to his country.
He said “This is my last message as the ambassador of French to Rwanda: I am leaving Kigali after four fantastic yeas marked by strengthening friendship.”
On July 24, 2025, Ambassador Antoine Anfré was welcomed by President Paul Kagame at his office in Village Urugwiro, as part of a farewell meeting.
Ambassador Antoine Anfré had began his duties of representing France in Rwanda in June 2021, after sic years during which this European country had no representative in Rwanda.
This diplomat played a significant role in restoring relations between his country and Rwanda which had often been strained due to France’s role in the dark history that marked Rwanda before the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
He was one of the diplomats who openly expressed his excitement for Rwanda, often sharing in social media the enjoyable moments he experienced in the country, including visits to tourist attractions.
At the end of last month, Ambassador Antoine Anfré revealed that he had visited a breeder of Inyambo cows in Mulindi, Gicumbi District.
