Joseph Kabila Kabange, the former President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo(DRC), has presented his successor, Felix Tshisekedi, with what he called the three remaining options, including resigning before things get worse.
Kabila, who returned to the country a month ago after spending a year and a half in exile, immediately traveled to the city of Goma, which is under the control of the AFC/M23 coalition currently in conflict with these Congolese government.
This political figure, who has repeatedly stated that their country is in turmoil due to poor and ineffective governance, once again reminded President Felix Tshisekedi that “he is the root cause of all the problems facing the Congolese people.”
Among the three options, Kabila said that Tshisekedi is left with “even though time is running out for him” are the following:
“ Resign before get things get worse, because circumstances themselves will force him to.”
“Accept genuine dialogue without hypocrisy,” meaning a sincere and transparent engagement, without pretenses.
He emphasized the importance of not favoring warlike approaches, adding that “he must understand that history shows that battles are not fought merely with words.’
Since returning to the DRC late last month, Kabila has been based in Goma, where he has spent several days meeting various groups, saying he is gathering input to help contribute to restoring order in the country.
Reports indicate that Joseph Kabila is now in Bukavu, another city controlled by AFC/M23, where he secretly traveled and is expected to also hold discussions with different groups there.
