In Brussels, Belgium, A lawsuit was filed against nine family members including the wife of the president of the Democratic Republic of Congo Felix Tshisekedi, they were accused of looting the country’s mines in the provinces of Haute-Katanga and Lualaba.
According to the news from RTBF ACTUS in Belgium, the complaint report was filed in the Belgian Judiciary this Tuesday.
The nine people from Tshisekedi’s family being accused in this complaint are his wife Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, his children, brothers, sister-in-law and his cousins.
The complaint says that nine people from President Tshisekedi’s family were involved in a plan that includes corruption and other bad behavior.
It was filed by two well-known lawyers, Bernard and Brieuc Maingain, on behalf of several non-government organizations from Katanga Province, and four former leaders of mining and business companies.
The complaint also says that these nine family members were the main people stealing minerals from Katanga. It was filed in Brussels, because those accused also have Belgian citizenship.
One of the people who filed the complaint said, “More complaints will be filed in other countries where people involved in stealing our resources come from.”
One of the things that Tshisekedi and some politicians close to him, including former president Joseph Kabila, are being accused of becoming very rich by stealing the country’s natural resources.
